JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a duty officer, you will be responsible for security at the remand center in consultation with the prison inspector and will operationally lead and distribute daily tasks. You communicate clearly and directly and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.

The duty officer is on duty from Monday to Sunday and serves, outside office hours, as the local highest operational decision-maker under the prison manager on standby. You represent the employer and ensure that the management line is maintained throughout the staff, anchors decisions made, and provides support to the prison inspector.

Some of the tasks included in the position are:

• monitoring daily security operations and taking action as needed
• creating and developing systems for monitoring daily security measures
• operationally leading the work within the remand center
• assessing staffing needs at the remand center and ranking personnel for the day's operations
• ensuring that searches are conducted
• participating in admissions and discharges, etc.
• ensuring compliance with security procedures
• conducting drills, security discussions, and security assessments
• planning transports

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of leading and distributing work based on the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you demonstrate good judgment and integrity. You possess a personal maturity that allows you to adapt your behavior and leadership to different situations with loyalty to the mission and regulations of the correctional service.

Personal qualities that we will value include the ability to work and prioritize rationally under stress or high workloads while maintaining a focus on safety.

As you operationally lead the work at the remand center in consultation with the prison inspector and maintain close contact with other colleagues in the operation, you need to have excellent collaboration skills and the ability to build good professional relationships with both colleagues and management. We are also looking for someone who can communicate clearly and directly to contribute to a safe and effective work environment. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

• Complete upper secondary school qualifications in the form of a diploma or high school graduation.
• Approved correctional service training.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
• Experience working within the correctional service.
• Driver's license (B).

Desirable

• Completed the internal duty officer training of the Correctional Service.
• Worked as a Duty Officer within the Correctional Service.
• Completed training in OC spray and expandable baton.
• Experience in leading personnel.
• Other leadership training that the Correctional Service deems relevant to the position.

We have high demands on our employees' awareness of security and confidentiality. A security check will precede the employment decision. Certain positions are placed in a security class, and a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. For positions with a higher security class, you must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
